While the past year has still felt a bit, uh, unpredictable, there’s one thing we could definitely count on: great workout music. Whether you needed tunes to psych you up on a bad day, beats to get you going early in the morning, or songs to give you that surge of energy to push through to the finish, there was music to suit every mood.
It’s no secret that stellar music can really make or break a workout. And that’s exactly why, as we near the end of the year, we’re taking this time to look back at some of our favorite tracks from 2022. This playlist is stacked with mega hits from just about every big name in music—Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Megan Thee Stallion, Harry Styles, and more. We also added songs you know all the words to—“About Damn Time” from Lizzo, a remix of “abc” by Gayle, and “Hold Me Closer” from Elton John and Britney Spears; plus songs you’ll recognize if you spent anytime on TikTok this year, like “Jiggle Jiggle” by Duke & Jones and Louis Theroux, and “Billie Eilish” by Armani White.
You’ll find almost entirely upbeat tracks here to help power your routine—which can be especially helpful for those dark and cold mornings when you’d really rather just stay in bed. We kick things off with “Break My Soul” from Beyonce, before moving on to music from Doja Cat and Kim Petras. If bass-heavy beats aren’t totally your style, there are tracks on this list for you too: “What I Want” by MUNA, “I Ain’t Worried” by OneRepublic, and “Tonight” by Phoenix, all get a spot. And after bangers from Bad Bunny, Charli XCX, and BLACKPINK, we take things down just a tad at the end of this playlist with hits from Maggie Rogers and Mitski. We think those last two tracks are perfect for a cooldown.
So without further adieu, crank up the volume and enjoy these 33 tracks that topped our (extremely unofficial) workout charts in 2022.
